Update
Well, it's been one month since my last post...I'm a bit behind but not a whole lot has happened in my life since my last posting...course, what has happened has been pretty cool.
First of all, I have to let any of you that don't know, know that I got a job! Sweet huh? It's not the greatest paying job in the world, but it has a lot of room for improvement if I decide I like the job and want to move into the Civil Engineering direction....basically, I'm making the same hourly wage with the job I just got as what I got paid at the high school...it's just that I'm working full time for North Coast Engineering and I wasn't working full time for Anne at PRHS.
So, yes, I have a job. Basically, I'm doing Land Survey for awhile...until after I learn those ropes, and I get down the AutoCAD version that they use, with the planning software package they combine it with...eventually...I was hoping like three months, but today at work God told me not to expect anything less than six (of course, he's providing that expected income that I thought I'd be getting...somehow. :D), before I move into a Junior Engineering position...which somewhat involves the Land Surveying..but is really an altogether different job...
Tomorrow is going to be my first day "out in the field" ...hopefully I get to use some instruments instead of just standing around and watching work take place. I'm all for training and learning the ropes...I just think getting my hands dirty, so to speak, is like the best way to learn the ropes...you know, it's Cal Poly's "Learn By Doing" motto that has me all twisted up now...(I used to love watching to learn!)
Based on that...today wasn't all that exciting, but it was still nonetheless cool. I got to look at a few plans that are current jobs...like, I got to see what the whole Kohl's shopping building and everything was going to look like...and the like dozen small stores near it...some to the north by Niblick and some to the south, basically facing JCPenny ... and then I also looked at this other one that is plans for some apartments by the new Heritage Bank next to Wal*Mart...and how there is going to be a street (Oak something) that is going to connect to Nicklaus and then there's going to be something like 8 Buildings of apartments over there...I think it'll look cool once it's done.. (and provide more "cheap" ...hopefully... apartments for Jen and I to chose from eventually...)
Anyway, so I had fun...it was just a bit slow. Oh, and everyone there is really nice, which is good and makes you feel welcomed...it's just hard stepping into something I know hardly anything-to-nothing about...especially working with Anne all these years and knowing her, AVID, and work that I need to get done inside-out. ::shrugs:: It'll come in time, I suppose.
Anywho, I'm gonna get going.
Talk with you all later!
